Glomus tumors are relatively rare benign tumors originated from glomus cells. Histopathologically, they are classified into solid glomus tumor, glomangioma, and glomangiomyoma. We report a case of subungual glomangiomyoma showing myxoid stromal change in a 38-year-old woman. The patient presented with a solitary, tender nodule on the nail bed of the right thumb. Histopathologically, there were many spindle cells which were mixed with glomus cells near the vascular spaces and myxoid stromal changes. Immunohistochemically, both glomus cells and spindle cells showed a positive reaction for CD34, smooth muscle actin, vimentin but did not show a reaction for desmin. To our knowledge, a few cases of subungual glomangiomyomas have been, but those with myxoid stromal change are very rare. (Korean J Dermatol 2008;46(4):550¡553)
